Hello my friends, today i am going to talk about my hobbies.
My main hobby is swimming, i have swam since i was 8 years old. I started swimming because my mom wanted me to do a sport, and here you have me, every free minute i have, i spend it swimming.
When i was at school, i went siwmming 6 or 7 times a week and in holidays between December and January i trained like 9 times a week. But now that im at the university i dont have as much time as i did before, so i go swimming when ever i can, i try to do it like a regulary thing like 3 times a week, after university, and i am also competing representing my university in this discipline.
What can i say of how it has shaped my personality? Uf in many ways, i have grown up in all aspects because of swimming, there i learned how to be constant, tolerant, how to do work team and the most important thing, how to get over diffilculties, such as when you train to much and then in the competition you didn´t get the mark you nedeed to classify to a southamerican champinship. This sport has bring many joys to my life, there i met my best friends and i have met many countries in trips as a national selection or just a team club trip.
Another hobby, but not as important as swimming is dancing. I love it, i love go dancing with my friends, and one of my frustrated dreams is to be a professional dancer. In the past year, in 2009, i did like a course of tropical dance in Valero´s academy and i learned how to dance salsa, merengue and samba mainly. But it hasn´t shape my personality in any way, is just a passenger hobby, is not one of my priorities, as swimming is.
I hope you liked this blog, see you soon my friends
Bye.

Holiday destinations
Hello my friends, today im going to refer about my favourite past vacations and my next ones.
To start, i would like you to know that my favorite vacations were when i was about 13 years old, a long time ago. I went to different parts, like Concon and Concepción, the funny thing is that i spent it with my beloved australian cousins, Valentine and Olivia. We had a great time together, i have to mention that we spent new year celebrations together, where we burned up like a “person” that represented all the bad stuff that we had lived during that year. After new year celebrations we went to Concon with my parents, where we had a great time, we did a lot of things, we met a lot of new people, and we had a crush with some of them, and it was the time for me in particular to live many new experiences like going alone to a party, like drinking for the first time an alcoholic beverage, apart from that, what i appreciated most is that i spent my holidays with two people that i love very much, unfortunately as you could deduce, i don´t see them very much, cause they live in Australia, but i hope that 2010 holidays will be as much as good as that vacations were or even better, because my big cousin Valentine is coming to Chile en January.
Now im going to write about what im planning to do on my next holidays.
First of all like i said so, in the previous paragraph, my cousin Valentine is coming to Chile so i hope to spend as long as is possible with her. But i have other plans too, i´m saving money because i want to make like a “tour” through 3 cities in southamerica.
I want to go for vacations to Punta del este, Florianópolis and one extra city that i´m not sure which could it be. This trip is planned for February, preferably on the first 15 days. I would do it with two school friends and i don´t really know where are we staying, because it is like a “Mochileo”, so we are going to what fate will bring to us.
That of for today friends, i hope you enjoyed my store.
Bye

“Scientists decode human genome’s instruction manual”
Hi, today i wll write a summary of a veri interesting article i found in a britsh newspaper called The Guardian.
Almost a decade after the human genome project laid bare the building blocks of life, scientists have figured out how they work together to create a living person.
About 25.000 genes are needed to make a healthy human being, but no one has explained how they combine and why they combine to make a person, until now.
California researchers have published like a manual that explains how genes are orchestrated inside cells; the advantages of the work that scientists have developed, is that they think that this work could be useful in many health treatments such as in cancer and mental disorders like squizophrenia.
And as we all now, the specific cellular expression is controlled by chemical switches that turn off and on determined genes; Scientists are also trying to decipher the chemical switches that control the entire expression gene machine, or as they call it, it is the “epigenome”.
A team led by Joseph Ecker at a university in California, studied human skin and stem cells with the objective to complete their first epigenomic map. By comparing this with the epigenome of diseased cells, scientists will be able to work out how glitches in the epigenome lead to cancers and other mental diseases for example. So this work will help to understand how a normal cell differs to a disease cell, which will lead scientists to understand the pathway of various diseases.
Previous studies suggest that everything around us, from what we eat to what we breathe affects our epigenome, leading to the expression of several medical conditions.
To finish the summary I would like to quote Linda Birbaum, director of the National Institute for Environmental Health Sciences “Science has matured to a point that we can now map the epigenome of a cell”.
